DINA Digest: What’s on this weekend 28/04: 30/04

Sharing is caring!

As April draws to its close the DINA team have been beavering away on more projects lined up for the year, and we have also this week launched a new competition for emerging contemporary artists, The Potential Prize.

Promoting up and coming talent is something we feel very passionate about here, we are exceptionally excited to get this up and running and we look forward to a wide range of submissions, with the winner picking up a £250 bursary and exhibiting their work here later in 2017.

As for this weekend, it’s a musical offering on both Friday and Saturday, whilst Sunday sees an evening of performance return to the venue. Tomorrow night from 2000, Groundwork brings five Sheffield DJs down to our place to combine their styles with a selection of House, Techno, Acid, Nu Jazz, and anything else to keep you moving till 0300. Check the Facebook page for more info, tickets available via Resident Advisor for £4 (includes booking fee.).

Moving on to Saturday night at 1930 and False Nine present a night of four exciting and innovative bands playing live for your pleasure.

Joining us on the night will be Witchgrass, an alt-rock band tinged with influences of sprawling desert rock, deep psychedelia and expansive Americana, along with Mantra, a young midlands-based DIY indie band with hints of surf and psychedelic rock, and also on the bill are Cora Pearl who blend garage rock, indie rock, and blues to great aural effect.

There is another act to be announced, so keep an eye out on the Facebook page for that announcement. This night is £3 on the door, all of which goes on covering costs and paying the artists, and is 18+ only.

On Sunday we welcome back Creative Lounge after their successful first evening last month. Creative Lounge is a performance night, inviting performers to showcase up to 15 minutes of their work in a supportive and professional environment. After each performance, there is the opportunity for a 15 minute feedback session.

Artists performing are: Louise & Grace, Ethical Productions, Big Egg Theatre and Spleeny.

Looking past this week, and we have plenty going off over the coming months to announce shortly so be sure to keep ’em peeled on Facebook and Twitter.

Have a great weekend!
