THIRD SHOWCASE ON WOMEN IN MUSIC TECHNOLOGY HITS DINA ON FRIDAY

The third event in a series of showcases focusing on the work of women in music technology comes to DINA on Cambridge Street, Sheffield this Friday November 2. Sound artist Vicky Clarke will be performing her work, which uses DIY electronics to create self-built instruments, as part of the Unpeeled programme of concerts, sound installations and talks. Unpeeled has been devised by SONA, a Sheffield-based group which fosters skills, creates space, generates networks, and forges collaboration to support women in learning and experimenting with sound and music practices. UnShut Festival: Interview With The Curator, Charlotte Blackburn

The first UnShut Festival begins this month at DINA bringing a wide variety of performance art to our venue over three days. This brand new and bold platform for artists sets out to make its mark on Sheffield’s creative calendar by showcasing work in a professional environment outside of mainstream theatres. One of UnShut’s curators, Charlotte Blackburn, decided to create an annual festival after producing a successful run of one-night events, Northern Art, at Theatre Delicatessen in Sheffield City Centre. It's been slightly quieter at DINA this week, it could well be said we're having a bit of a breather for what lies ahead for the rest of the month, which is packed. We've updated our listings up until June (June's shaping up to be even busier and those listings will be up very soon, just as we've confirmed a few bits and bobs.), so you can have a look at the delights in store, everything from Sheffield Gin Festival, to Daft Chuffs Comedy Night, and UnShut Festival of performing arts. Speaking of performance, we've had an immersive one in our building this week as Sheffield University Theatre Company have been using the entire first floor for their "Breathing Corpses" show by promising dramatist Laura Wade, which completely sold out.…
